May 29, 2025

White Plains, NY – The Amalgamated Family of Companies, which includes the flagship company, Amalgamated Life Insurance Company (www.amalgamatedbenefits.com) a leading provider of comprehensive insurance solutions, announces the appointment of Lindsay Martin, an experienced legal professional with a background in financial and employee benefits investigations, as Attorney.  Ms. Martin will assist our affiliate company, Amalgamated Employee Benefits Administrators, and client ERISA Funds in all facets of federal court litigation while also supporting Amalgamated’s management team and Fund Trustees.

A graduate of Duke University School of Law and a member of the New York Bar since 2022, Martin’s most recent position was serving as an Employee Benefits Investigator at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA).

In her role at EBSA, Martin made an impact in both the legal and regulatory landscape by leading investigations into employer-sponsored health and welfare plans and ensuring compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Her work involved analyzing complex financial data, negotiating with plan sponsors, and collaborating with the Regional Solicitor of Labor to enforce national compliance policies. She also spearheaded a critical office-wide initiative to review applications for the Department of Labor’s Voluntary Fiduciary Correction program.

Martin’s legal foundation was built on hands-on experience, including prestigious roles at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and the North Carolina Department of Justice. As an Honors Program Legal Intern and Legal Extern at the SEC, she contributed to major enforcement investigations involving securities fraud, insider trading, and unregistered securities offerings.

Her passion for law and policy extends to her academic contributions. While at Duke Law, she served as a Content Editor for the Duke Law & Technology Review and was actively involved in Lawyer on the Line, a program providing legal aid services.

Prior to law school, Martin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University, where she honed her leadership skills as President of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity and was actively involved in the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity.

With a sharp legal mind and an unwavering commitment to justice, Lindsay Martin continues to be a formidable force in the regulatory and investigative sectors.
